Summertime at Rocketown
While summertime might mean vacations and family gatherings to you, for many in the Nashville community it simply means survival. Last summer, over 85% of our Rocketown camp attendees were living 200% below the poverty line. You read that right…200%. And it isn't just the poverty that takes its toll…it's the danger and the temptation for major trouble. Consider Darius. On the first day of school, his teacher asked the class to share what happened over the summer. When it was Darius' turn, he said, "I stayed home all summer and I saw my cousin get shot." That's where Rocketown—AND YOU—come in. We provide a quality summer camp to approximately 75 kids a week in a supportive, faith-based environment. We offer a variety of creative learning opportunities designed to educate but most importantly to engage our campers: Dance. Photography. Movie Making. Gearheads. Rhyme Lab.
We have a significant impact on these kids and SO CAN YOU! We cannot meet all the need without you, so please consider the difference you can make in just one life this summer. Give on behalf of your kids, your nieces or nephews, or in honor of someone who helped make your summers safe and fun. We won't give up on these kids and we hope you won't either.
